Tamworth much the better side.

Mike show fighting spirit
The Mikes travelled to The Lamb, Tamworth for the last League game of the season against Tamworth FC and with Ethan, Harry & Leslie out injured and ill and with Tamworth drafting in some of their Under 21’s after their game was cancelled it was going to be a hard game for the Mikes.
The game started with Tamworth having the majority of procession but the Mikes were keeping them out by defending well and players covering for others but Tamworth were having the majority of their success down the right wing, but against the run of play the Mikes took the lead on 10 minutes when they won a corner on the right wing and Jack played in the corner Adam attacked the ball but did not connect properly and the ball fell to Christopher who controlled the ball and fired into the far corner to make it 1-0. As the half went on and the Tamworth players started to win every 50/50 ball in midfield and to many of the Mikes players stopped covering the runs off the ball and not committing to the tackle and on 33 minutes Casey pulled off a great block from the No.8 after he eluded three tackles and on 35 minutes the Tamworth No.9 turned on the edge of the area and with the goal at his mercy he fired against the bar, the Mikes were really under the hammer at this time and on 39 minutes Casey made a good diving save to keep out the Tamworth No.12 and as the game went into extra time at the end of the half Lee made a good goal line clearance after a corner from Tamworth and Casey made a good low save from the follow up to keep the score at the half 1-0 to the Mikes.
At the start of the second half Jamiro, Jake and George replaced Christopher, Ryan & Casey and from the off the Tamworth players were dominating the paly and Rushan was being overrun at left back as his midfielder on that side was not tracking back and the Tamworth side were outnumbering him and on 49 minutes this was the Casey as the Tamworth No.8 drove down the left wing and fired a shot that George made a good block and saved again from the No.9 but the follow up to the far post saw the Tamworth right winger (No.2) free at the far post after Rushan had been pulled across to cover to tap home and make it 1-1. However, on 59 minutes Tamworth should have been down to 10 men after the Tamworth No.10 flew in two footed on Jamiro although winning the ball the Referee spoke to him but took no action and the No.8 again mouthed off at the Referee and he booked him but the Tamworth Manager stated that the tackle was so bad he withdrew the No.10 & No.8 as it would not accept that behaviour and shortly after Ryan replaced Jack. Tamworth were moving the ball well and causing the Mikes lots of problems and on 64 minutes they played some quick passing football that split the Mikes defence open and released the No.11 and he steered the ball past George as he advanced to make it 1-2. After the goal Christopher replaced Thourqeed and the Mikes started to move the ball better and on 67 minutes they were unlucky not to equalise after a good diagonal ball found Ryan who controlled the ball and stepped inside his defender before hitting a lofted shot that left the keeper flat footed but smacked back off the bar and as the Tamworth players broke the Tamworth No.4 fired a shot in from 30 yards that looked to be well covered by George but he never got into position to save the shot and it floated past him to make it 1-3. The Mikes were still showing some fight and after 70 minutes they won a corner on the right wing and Max lifted the ball into the area where Finlay attacked the ball and headed the ball down with power past the keeper to make it 2-3. Shortly after from a ball into the box Christopher attacked the ball but the defender went through his back and the Referee waved play on, but he had to be removed and replaced by Jack due to a head injury. On 74 minutes the Tamworth No.2 was booked for repeated foul play after again flying into a tackle that if he had made contact could have caused serious injury, and although the Mikes were putting up a great fight and went to a 4-2-4 formation but Tamworth were much the better side and on 81 minutes Lee gave away a free kick right on the edge of the 18 yard area and the No.9 fired over the wall but his shot hit the bar and the Mikes cleared but with time running out on 85 minutes the No.7 broke down the left wing and crossed the ball but George did not react as the ball bobbled across the six yard box and allowed the No.12 a easy chance to fire home and make it 2-4, and as the time ran out that is how the score remained.
