The Mikes welcomed Rushall Olympic Under 16’s to the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground for a Friendly for Rushall to build for next year and with Casey and Les not available but with three new players trying out (Rhys, Charlie & Caius), it would be a good test for the Mikes. The game started in perfect conditions with no wind and in lovely sunshine and with the Mikes starting with a strong side and in the early exchanges they were much the better side moving the ball well and stretching the Rushall defence but they could never find the final ball to create a clear cut chance but on 15 minutes a good passing move allowed Max to drive at the Rushall defence before playing the ball to Thourqeed some 25yards out who lifted the ball high towards goal where the Rushall keeper misjudged the flight and the ball lopped into the net to make it 1-0. The Mikes were all over the Rushall players winning every 50/50 ball and showing them how physical the league is and on 21 minutes the Mikes were lucky to keep their lead as the No,9 broke into the area and came together with Adam but the Referee waved away the penalty appeals but shortly after on 25 minutes they were back level after a free-kick was given away some 22 yards out and the No.10 lifted the ball over the wall straight at George in the Mikes goal but he somehow managed to let the ball slip through his fingers and over the line to make it 1-1. This however, seemed to wake the Mikes up and on 32 minutes Lee played a great through ball from the right wing that Ryan chased but the No.5 for Rushall got there first to head back to the keeper but as he hesitated Ryan nipped in to lift the ball past him and into the empty net to make it 2-1. The Mikes were playing some good football and on 38 minutes a great passing move released Ryan on the left wing who cut in and fired a cross across the keeper that the keeper managed to parry the ball but Harry followed in to tap home and make it 3-2and the score remained the same until half time. As the second half started the Rushall players were showing more determination and competing with the Mikes and the game was more 50/50 in procession and both teams were trying to get he next goal that would effect the result but there were no clear chances until the 73 minute when the Mikes defence fell asleep from a Rushall throw-in allowing the No.10 to make a long run that was never picked up and as he turned he only had Charlie in the Mikes goal to beat and as he rushed out to meet him he managed to lift the ball over Charlie and int the net to make it 3-2. Rushall were really pushing for a equaliser but the Mikes were having the better chances but too many time either passes were misplaced or a pass was not made when players were trying to score themselves but on 86 minutes another penalty appeal was turned down by the Referee for offside and on 91 minutes they went really close from a corner when the No.5 headed over with the goal at his mercy. As time was running out on the 89th minute another good passing move released Jamiro who drove at the Rushall defence before firing across the keeper who again parried the ball out but straight at Christopher who first touch to try and score totally stopped the ball allowing him to slot the ball in with him left foot and make it 4-2 and as the Rushall players kicked off the Referee blew for full time.
